Bill Gates and Moore's Law
If when I published my book I had been aware of Bill Gate's 1996 quote ...... "We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten" .... I would have included it as an addition to Moore's Law. It has proved to be totally true in the real world, particularly in the field of technology developments all the way from relational databases and personal computers to blockchains and quantum computers. 'The' NHS is actually 22,000 organisations
On the 12th of February Charlotte Trueman published an interview with Chris Parsons of NHS Digital in the respected journal ComputerWorld in which he revealed that 'the' NHS in reality consists of 22,000 (yes, twenty two thousand) distinct organisations. Who writes open source code? Why?
I recently posted I would summarize research into who contributes to open source software projects and why. I would have included such information in my book but when it was published I had no access to the research. But finally, here it is. To be considered as an addition to the paragraph "Open Source" on page 166.
